HOW CAN A VISUAL LANGUAGE REPRESENT THE IMPACT OF ALGORITHMS ON EVERYDAY LIFE?

“Tell Me What to Think” is a newspaper publication showcasing the impact of algorithmic systems on everyday life.

Taking excerpts from The Verge, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, Vox, and Kyle Chankya’s “Filterworld”, this periodical examines how taking decision-making away from humans and into black-box systems can have profound impacts on our culture, entertainment, healthcare, and even language.

The visual language was inspired by the themes of automation. Each article contains every possible detail for the header and key, creating an “alt-text” of over-quantification. The project includes a newspaper editorial, print posters, and a website to explore the design language in different mediums.
